Life over Trend - Justice for Trayvon!

Dear members of the Black community,

With the utmost respect for the principles of #Individualism, it is imperative that we impart a valuable lesson to our children – the importance of dressing not only for success but for life, and for their seamless integration into society. When we embrace this principle, we take a significant stride toward securing a brighter future. Our primary objective is to safeguard lives, transcending fleeting trends, and diminishing the risks associated with encounters with racially biased law enforcement. In this endeavour, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to the profound message that lies at the heart of our cause.

We advocate for a profound shift, a complete transformation in the way we prepare our sons for the world. Let us clothe them in suits and instill in them the readiness for a future where change is not just a possibility but an inevitability. This transformation represents our dedication to a more promising tomorrow, one marked by progress, justice, and equality.

In the spirit of moving #Onward and #Forward, let us pay tribute to the memory of Trayvon Martin, a poignant symbol of the pressing need for justice. By making the conscious choice to dress our sons for success and preparedness, we are taking the first critical step towards securing justice for Trayvon and for all those whose lives have been unjustly affected.

In conclusion, let us collectively choose "Life over Trend" and rally for "Justice for Trayvon." This is a call to action, a reminder that we have the power to shape our own destiny and, in doing so, contribute to a world that respects and values every life.

Sincerely,

A Dedicated Black Mother

Journey of Self: Who Are You?

How do you begin to answer this question? Do you begin with your name, relations, occupation, achievements, life status or family lineage? How about sexual, spiritual or solar orientation? No? Then you must be your race, creed, nationality, or background? Right?... So, if none of those define you, tell me... do you really, truly and honestly know who you are? How might you begin to find out? As individuals we have so many intricacies and facets to our lives that if we have not consciously taken the time to find out who we are, we could be living a lie or someone else idea of who we are. I know, I know...I can hear the protest loud and clear: "I know who I am." But really, do you? I have news for you. What you do and where you came from are NOT you!  That's right, it is an extension of who you are, but it certainly isn't you in its entirety. You were who you are, long before you learned how to walk, talk, read, or write. Long before your passed or cu...

HOW TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS: Four simple questions and basic guidelines

What are goals:  Goals are a set of predetermined thoughts or ideas set about in one’s mind to be attained by a set period in time.  Something that is hoped to achieved with certain expectations and deadlines. In order to obtain balance in your life you must set goals. NO ORDER NO GOALS, NO GOALS NO GLORY, NO GLORY NO BALANCE.  Goal gives direction to your life and helps you live by purpose and not per chance.  To set goals, first ask yourself these 4 simple questions: What ?  What is it I want to accomplish? Why ? Why do I want this...you must have the right motives or it could backfire. When ?  Set a deadline...a time frame you think is reasonable...you don’t want to set yourself up for failure. How ?  How am I going to do this? Know your resources, brainstorm and research are the keys.  E.g.  I am going to save $500 by the end of this year so that I can go on my dream vacation.  I will save most of my allowances, or I...

A New Year's Eve Devotion - The Hands of God

A New Year's Eve Devotion - The Hands of God My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens. ~Isaiah 48:13 NIV What I woke up to this morning. I quickly sprang from my bed, okay, sofa where I have been sleeping for a while now, and grabbed my phone quickly to capture the vision in front of me. Half hour later, I am still snapping pix and vids. If only my camera could see what I could see. One of the best things about living in this space is the marvellous sunrise and moons I get to experience. REFLECT & PRAY The vision inspired me write a poem reflecting what the image of God's hand was saying to me: THE HANDS OF GOD: Crimson Curtain, Sunrise Framed Through crimson curtains God kissed my eyes, A glowing dawn begins to spread. The city rests still and serene, While crimson skies ignite the scene. A balcony, aged but full of grace, Embraces the glow in its weathered space. Below, a waking town appears, Its shops and streets, calm pion...
