Discovering Andrene's Extraordinary Journey:

Who Am I? A Spiritual and Driven Individual

I am a deep, reticent who can be verbose at times – traits that should not be mistaken for weakness. My life is centred on maintaining balance and order, and I constantly strive to improve myself and help others do the same. I have a great penchant for rooting for the underdogs. These qualities have been evident since childhood, but now I realize their significance.

I can totally relate to them as a person who has overcome numerous challenges in life, from financial setbacks to unwavering resilience and eventual triumph. Despite the struggles, I have emerged stronger than ever.

My Girls

Raising children on your own can be an incredibly challenging experience. I did a fantastic job with my daughters, Zoey and Selene who turned out to be extraordinary, accomplished and open-minded young ladies, if I do say so myself. They are my most significant source of pride and joy.

A Proud Achievement as Zoey's Pageant Coach

I take pride in sharing that Zoey (second from left) has participated in four pageants under my coaching. She excelled in all of them: Titles "Miss Black Ontario, 2009," First Runner-up in "Miss Super Jamboree," Second Runner-up in "Miss Teen Canada," "Miss Teen Brampton Int'l," and Top-20 in "Miss Universe Canada, 2009."

Finding Inner Strength through Faith and Compassion

My source of strength comes from my relationship with the Lord. Through prayer, reflective writing, and grit one can achieve great things. Without God in my life, I would be a lost, wandering soul. I'm grateful for His many mercies and blessings towards me. And, of course, my girls are a constant source of support and inspiration.

The Importance of Home and Family: A Story of Family Bonds and Life Lessons

Home is where I find my peace and tranquillity and recharge my energy. Growing up in a Christian household with many siblings taught me the significance of togetherness and kinship. My mother was a kind confidant, while my father instilled in me the values of discipline, persistence, and hard work. Although he was strict, we developed a strong bond.

Our parents left us a remarkable legacy of faith, inner strength, and beauty. Music has always been the highest source of nourishment for the soul. Through it all, I find solace and comfort in knowing God is my refuge and strength and is always present in times of need.

This blog is about psychosocial behaviours and competencies to help people navigate their lives and careers. It will help people make better decisions, solve problems effectively, think critically and responsibly, communicate more effectively, build healthier relationships, empathize with others, cope with stressful situations and manage their lives in healthy and productive ways.

When Your Best Isn't Good Enough

Ever feel like no matter how hard you've tried or how much effort you put into something or someone, your best just isn’t good enough? Well, my mother, God rest her soul, used to say: "When man on earth has done their best, Angels in heaven can’t do more." I loved that woman... she was such an inspiration and my best friend. I miss you so. Well, here are some other advices I have gathered to help us feel better when life knocks us down:

Happiness is a Myth

What if I told you everything you thought you knew about happiness is wrong? The truth is happiness is a myth and an illusion that is  overrated.   It is like chasing after a butterfly. The more you pursue it, the more it eludes you, and the moment you catch it is the moment it begins to die.  So, from whence came the word happy? According to The Oxford English Dictionary, the first record of the word was around 1350,   from Middle English, "a form of the English language spoken after the Norman conquest (1066) until the late 15th century," which is a derivative of the Old Norse "happ," meaning "luck" or "chance."  It combined "the word hap, meaning "a person's luck or lot," and the suffix –y, meaning "characterized by," to   form diminutive nouns and adjectives denoting a state, condition, or quality.  Then, in essence, when someone says, "I want to be happy," they are really saying that they want someone e...

How To Be Great At Being You

As humans, we wear so many different hats or masks that it is hard to distinguish which one we are operating from at times.  I am not talking about the roles we play so much as the personalities we play.  The thing with switching hats sometimes is that they often masquerade or show up as somebody else or multiple characters.  "Who are you?", "Who was that?",  or "I don’t even know that person anymore" are often some of the phrases we hear or use of people we thought we once knew. Let’s look at some of the various hats (or masks) we often wear:
