What Does Financial Freedom Mean For You?

Financial freedom is different for everyone based on their desires, lifestyle and life experiences.

For some people, it means having a financial cushion: savings, investments, a nest egg and enough cash (on hand) to afford their lifestyle and pursue their dreams. We all want to live a comfortable debt-free life, and financial freedom will allow us to make choices without financial limitations to meet our needs and pursue our goals without worrying about money.

It incorporates the five pillars of financial planning: income, investments, insurance, tax and estate planning—3ITEp.

Achieving financial freedom requires a careful life assessment: lifestyle, budgeting, investing, borrowing, and simplifying your means. It requires you to ask yourself three simple questions:

  1. What does financial freedom look like?
  2. What does financial freedom feel like?
  3. What does financial freedom sound like?

It would help if you had a clear picture of what it means and looks like to you to know when you achieved it. For some people, it is having enough income to cover their basic living expenses and any further discretionary spending; for others, it might be not having to rely on a traditional job or career, yet for some, it is all about having assets. Still, for some, it means not having to save up cash or take out a loan to make costly purchases. That is why you need to have a clear picture of what success looks like. Visualizing success helps us understand our goals and accomplishments. It will help you to better track your progress and celebrate your achievements.

I understand this is not always easy, but if you make it a goal and work at it consistently, you can make it happen! It is never too late to achieve your dreams.

To achieve your dreams, you must cultivate a sense of gratitude for what you have and avoid comparing and despairing. Keeping a gratitude journal or jar to count your blessings can help you stay focused on your journey and progress; remember that everyone has their own challenges and struggles, and no one's life is perfect.

When Your Best Isn't Good Enough

Ever feel like no matter how hard you've tried or how much effort you put into something or someone, your best just isn’t good enough? Well, my mother, God rest her soul, used to say: "When man on earth has done their best, Angels in heaven can’t do more." I loved that woman... she was such an inspiration and my best friend. I miss you so. Well, here are some other advices I have gathered to help us feel better when life knocks us down:

How to Get the Life You Want:

According to Stephen Covey, in his book 7 Habits of Highly Effectively People,  in order to be successful and live the life you want, you must " put first things first" .  A pretty old saying if you ask me.  Something my own parents or grandparents have said for decades.  Now I am going to tell you the same thing again.

Happiness is a Myth

What if I told you everything you thought you knew about happiness is wrong? The truth is happiness is a myth and an illusion that is  overrated.   It is like chasing after a butterfly. The more you pursue it, the more it eludes you, and the moment you catch it is the moment it begins to die.  So, from whence came the word happy? According to The Oxford English Dictionary, the first record of the word was around 1350,   from Middle English, "a form of the English language spoken after the Norman conquest (1066) until the late 15th century," which is a derivative of the Old Norse "happ," meaning "luck" or "chance."  It combined "the word hap, meaning "a person's luck or lot," and the suffix –y, meaning "characterized by," to   form diminutive nouns and adjectives denoting a state, condition, or quality.  Then, in essence, when someone says, "I want to be happy," they are really saying that they want someone e...
